BRAVE NEW CYBER WORLD!!

Brave New Cyber World

Believe me
you could love the world again
if you turned off
the six o’clock news
and didn’t surf the internet
every single day.

The birds that
flutter in my garden
do not know
that we elected a forty-fifth
president that also tweets.

~ ~ ~

Now that I no longer have a car,
what a seismic shift for me
to figure out how to download
the LYFT app
and warily
 add my PayPal Password!

Soon a message:
“Charlotte Chip”
where do you want to go?"

I type in "EarthFare."

In less than a minute
there’s a message:
“Your driver,Wanda, in a Nissan Versa
will be there in 8 min.”

That’s how I bought my
groceries yesterday.

Outside EarthFare
I press the magic buttons again:

“Your driver, Kenny,
will be there in 5 min!”

Kenny even put my groceries
into the kitchen,
something I struggle with.

~ ~ ~~

So here’s that blend
 of these two worlds
my i-pad and my deck and garden

where I can watch old movies
like  Hollywood Canteen, 1944.

(It's a FREE app called
Watch TCM.)

We were in third grade.

Tomorrow there’s a 65th class reunion
 of that class of 1954.

I won’t be there.
But here's a HELLO!
I like to remember us all
the way we were back then.

THIS
"BRAVE NEW CYBER WORLD"

has made it possible
to email this Blog to my
Brown High School Classmates!

We graduated on May 18, 1954
exactly 65 years ago!

And if I don’t make it
to the Broadway Stage,
here’s the aging diva
waiting for her big comeback.

A recent talent show I performed
my song: I Wanna Be Frankie B. DeMille!
(photo: m. winkler)

I’ve left some of my
photo memories on YouTube!
and my piano solo
Morning Tears.

Take a look!

Better than a tombstone!!

THE DAY MY CAR DIED!!!

Last Tuesday my little
blue Mercury Mystique died

(We were together 21 years!)

I was coming back from Lowe’s
with marigolds and begonias
in the trunk
with a Good Will Yamaha keyboard
on the backseat
and a load of groceries!!

Holy Cow! As soon as I
heard the engine skipping,
I drove straight to 5-Star Garage.

I was so scared that I wouldn’t make it!!
But I did.

Oh, but now, I’m depressed!

Last night I took this
homeopathic remedy for
apprehension.

Oh, the ordeal of trying out
used cars!

The ordeal of asking for more rides.

The ordeal of figuring out
addresses to “enter”
for Uber!!!
!^&#%@$^#&@

Settle down
~ ~ ~
So now it’s Sunday Morning.
Thanks to Krista Tippett’s
OnBeing guest, Sylvia Boorstein
and her Jewish-Buddhist
2,011 “metta-meditation:”

May I feel safe.
May I feel content.
May I feel strong.
May I live with ease.”

I’m feeling a little better!
~ ~ ~
SUDDENLY, I thought "BLOG!"

Yes!! Tell the photo story
of how an 80-year-old
goes about Uber-ing
and test-driving
used cars . . .

While also “Waiting for Godot,”

still on the Waiting List for a
Lanier Gardens Apartment, where I’m
 waiting for someone to die!
---
Better now to stop and
write what I've learned today.

It's about this gift of aging wisdom remembering to "recalculate"
as the GPS voice says!

Renewing my sense of
what's really important
and practicing lovingkindness
in the world which
can nurture us,
if we allow it to,
 and keep the right attitude.

Instead of asking,
“Am I pleased?”

ask myself,
"In this moment
am I able to care?”
=========

So, here's to the music!
Welcome the Yamaha keyboard which
will play my old diskettes!!

And a recent garden photo

And another photo I took
since this year is probably
my last Spring on the deck

in a little brick house
the McDaniel family of five
moved in 50 years ago.
~ ~ ~
Tomorrow I begin my

"To Uber?"
or
“To Buy a Used Car?”

 Adventure

I’ll be sure and take more photos!

stay tuned . . .
